The newly posted Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Chuks Enwonwu has urged police officers in the state not to tamper with fundamental human rights of residents of the state.
Enwonwu made this declaration while addressing officers of the state Police Command at Eleyele headquarters of the state police command.
Enwonwu who took over the baton of leadership from CP Shina Olukolu on Monday urged police officers in the state to extend the support given to his predecessor to him.
He urged the officers to go back to their respective divisions and maintain a high level of discipline.
Enwonwu said, “I expect you to respect the fundamental human rights of the citizens in the state as enshrined in the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria.
“If I discovered that you tamper with the rights of the citizens, you are on your own.
“I want to urge you that you should go back to your divisions to maintain a high level of discipline.
Olukolu who has been posted to head the Force Command Investigation Department (FCID) in Lagos appreciate the efforts of officers while heading the command.
Olukolu said, “I thank the people of the state, the government and officers, rank and file, there is no way that I will not remember Oyo State.
I thank the IG for his fatherly role. I am leaving Oyo State and I am leaving Oyo State succeeding.
“I want them to extend the same gesture and support with the new CP”.
