Members of the non-academic staff union from Abuja, Ilorin, Lagos, Ibadan, Calabar and across the country, have made bare their threats of embarking on strike over IPPS and other allowance related issue

The protesting unions on Tuesday, January 12 said universities in the country would not reopen unless the governments revokes the controversial Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System, IPPIS, address the issue of discriminatory disbursement of Earned Allowance, and pay arrears of the new minimum wage among other issues.

The union also called for the sack of the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu and his counterpart in the Labour Ministry, Dr Chris Ngige, for supporting their academic colleagues, ASUU to cheat them in the sharing of the N40 billion earned allowances released by the Federal Government.

From Abuja, Ilorin, Lagos, Ibadan, Calabar and across the country, the workers, under the aegis of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU and the Non-Academic Staff Union, NASU, noted that without their demands being met, the hope of reopening universities in the country after months of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic would not come to be.
