(PHOTOS) Buhari Holds Virtual Meeting With Governors’ Forum

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday held a virtual meeting with representatives of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) and some government officials.

President Muhammadu Buhari has charged state governors to cooperate with the Presidential Task Force PTF on the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic.

The President who spoke to the Governors’ Forum in a virtual meeting on Monday, particularly charged the governors to continue educating and persuading their citizens to accept the reality of COVID-19 in the country and live responsibly.

In a statement issued by Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President said the PTF had briefed him on the next steps in the national response to the pandemic, “and I have directed that they work very closely with the Governors.”

President Buhari said the pandemic was “beyond technology, power, and resources,” noting that countries that had all those, were recording highest casualties round the world.

“We have to be very careful. We need to continue to educate and persuade the people to accept the reality of the situation, and do all that is necessary to stay safe,” the President said.

The meeting also discussed economic and security issues, among others, with the Governors commending the President on the “leadership and direction” he has given the country in combating COVID-19.

The President was joined in the Executive Council chambers at the State House, Abuja, by the Minister of Finance Budget and National Planning, Mrs. Zainab Ahmed, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, among others.
