What is IJMB?
The Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) is a Nigerian program that offers an alternative to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exam for students seeking admission into Nigerian universities. It is a one-year program that allows students to gain admission into 200 level of any university in Nigeria.
IJMB Exam Overview
The IJMB exam is divided into three different levels, and students are expected to complete all three levels to be eligible for admission into a Nigerian university. The exam is also available in different study areas, including Science, Social Science, and Art.

How to check your IJMB result
Checking IJMB results will be as easy as ABC if you follow the steps outlined below:
- Go to the institution or study center where you completed the IJMB program.
- Pay for the result-checking token, which costs at least 3,000 naira.
- Collect your IJMB result and make photocopies for reference purposes.
- Plan how you are going to use it to gain admission.
Please ensure you are not given a fake result, and it should be stamped & signed by the Principal Coordinator. If you have already enrolled for direct entry, you can scan the result and upload it to the JAMB portal.
Here’s what the IJMB result looks like:
Can you check your IJMB result online?
Unfortunately, there is no way to check your IJMB result online. If due to one reason or another, you can’t visit your center, you can contact them to send you a scanned copy of the result.
This doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get the original copy. After spending more than 9 months on the program, I don’t think there’s any valid reason why you shouldn’t collect your result.
Hence, candidates are to get their IJMBE result by proceeding to the institution or study centre where they had the programme. Notably, through the programme coordinator or the notice board of the faculties or related platforms in the school.
Most times, students need to pay a token to have their results collected (amounts vary by institution/study centre). The result will be indicated in the form of A, B, C, D, E, and F which literally stands for 5pts, 4pts, 3pts, 2pts, 1pts, and 0pts respectively. To know how to calculate your grade, kindly drop a comment.
Furthermore, If you are wondering what is next after the collection of your IJMB results, the next thing is to buy the JAMB Direct Entry form from the JAMB CBT office or their website if you have not done so.
Then fill in your choice of university while registering in the JAMB portal on the Direct entry section. Then wait for your choice of university to commence post UTME registration or screening and register the same (where applicable, some universities do not conduct post UTME for Direct Entry applicants.)
It is worth noting that, students may not run a degree simultaneously at the same institution or study centre where they had the IJMB programme but their successful result makes them eligible for admission into any IJMB affiliated universities in Nigeria.
However, if you have any issue regarding the collection of your result or otherwise, don’t hesitate to drop a comment or reach us via the contact details provided at the top of the post.
Conclusion
The IJMB program is a good alternative to the JAMB exam for students seeking admission into Nigerian universities. It is affordable and offers students a chance to study at their own pace. However, the program is only available in Nigeria, and some foreign universities may not recognize it.
If you have taken the IJMB exam, then you will need to check your result to know if you passed or not. Follow the step-by-step guide provided in this article to check your IJMB result.
